Text Box: Looking for a good time. . . . a great way to spend a late summer morning in a beautiful rose garden? Then we will see you on Saturday the 23rd at Flinchbaughs for our last garden meeting. And while we’re talking about a great summer of roses, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention again about being at Pat Lawrence’s and Gayle Shore’s homes and enjoying not only their hospitality but their gardens. Our members gardening styles are so unique and different that each garden visit is special. And we really do want to thank you for all the hospitality.

At our short business meeting we will be starting the nominating process for selecting the officers for the year 2009. We will be voting on President, Vice President, Secretaries and Treasurer and one Director Position. The actual voting will take place at our next meeting which will be in October. We will not be having our usually September meeting due to the District convention. Our three current directors are Donna Smith, Joe Winterhalter and Larry Flinchbaugh. They serve as the nominating committee. Together, they will be soliciting candidates to serve in those offices. Anyone can run for any office or seek to remain in the office that they have except the President. After 2 years, we get to give them a rest. So, some of our former officers will be volunteering to remain in their offices. Some may change positions. Anyone wishing to volunteer for a new office or to stay in their old office should speak to one of the directors and let their wishes be known. Since this is my second year, I will not be running for president again but be passing on this honor to another member. Remember, no one needs to be asked to run for an office. Please be helpful and volunteer. Just call or email any of the directors and they will be most happy, I am sure, to accept your willingness to help. And if you nominate someone else, you could let the director know if you have already spoken to your nominee and if that person has already agreed to have their name put in nomination.

Also at the meeting will be the big “Sign up sheet” for the District. Anyone who every wanted to know what they could do to help, now has a place to commit.

Anyone who has offered to put their gardens on tour after the district needs to provide written directions to Joan Singer at jsinger@keystonehumanservices.org by Friday, September 5th in order to have them duplicated for the packets. Remember to start your directions from the Hotel.

The secret is out. For this past year, we have been collectively been working on the Artistic schedule for the District show. The theme features “Friends and Roses” and to accomplish this and to make it a true ‘district’ show, last year we asked each society to furnish to us the name of someone, something or somewhere special and unique to their society and surroundings. We at YARS made our own pick and now that it is up on the website for all to see. We formally announce the YARS decision to honor and make as exemplars of our great membership the Klings. Dick and Elizabeth. To you, we say’ thank you’ for your years of enthusiastic service and as we say in the little bio that follows the title of the class
. . . . A Class Act, after all these years, still in love with roses and each other! So here’s to you both, our salute!!!
