Constitution

 

ARTICLE I

 

The name of this organization shall be the York Area Rose Society.

 

ARTICLE II

Purpose        

 

The purpose of this organization shall be to stimulate interest in roses and aid in carrying out community projects related to rose culture.

 

             Section I          The club is to be affiliated with the American Rose Society.

 

ARTICLE III

Membership              

 

The membership shall be open to all persons interested in the promotion of rose culture.

 

ARTICLE IV

Officers and Executive Committee       

 

             Section I          The officers of this organization shall be:  President, Vice President,                                        Secretary (this includes recording and corresponding unless otherwise                                        desired), and Treasurer.  Election and installation of officers will be held at                                        the October meeting.  The President and Vice President can run for two                                        (2) consecutive terms.  If someone else is nominated, there would have to                                        be a vote.  The Secretary and Treasurer may continue in those offices if                                        no one else is interested in them.  No installation ceremony is necessary if                                        the officers remain the same

 

              (a)  Three (3) directors shall be elected for terms of three (3) years; one new director                                     will be elected each year to succeed the retiring director.  The secretary is                                     to keep a record of the terms of the directors and advise the nominating                                     committee chairman each year of the director whose term has expired.

 

             (b)  A Parliamentarian will be appointed on as needed basis by a simple majority.

 

Section II         The President will appoint the necessary committee chairpersons.

 

Section III        Any vacancy occurring in an elective office shall be filled by a majority                           vote of the membership.  Any vacancy filled in this manner shall be for the                           duration of the unexpired term.

 

ARTICLE V

Meetings

 

             Section I          The dates for the meetings for the following year will be determined at the                                        October meeting.   The budget will be determined at the October meeting.

            

             Section II         There shall be an executive meeting at the call of the President.

 

             Section III        The annual meeting shall be in October.  The offices shall be elected and                                        installed immediately.

 

             Section IV       The organization’s fiscal year will be from January 1 to December 31.
